July 2024
🔍 Summary
July was all about editor optimization and migration readiness. We introduced tooling to help users migrate their Server-based User Macros to the Cloud version with minimal manual effort. The editor experience also received a notable upgrade with support for native Velocity syntax highlighting.
✨ New Features & Enhancements
Custom Macro Key Preservation on Import
Changed import behavior to disable automatic prefix/suffix generation, allowing users to define custom macro keys — essential for Server/DC migration consistency.Switched from Monaco to ACE Editor
Replaced the Monaco editor with ACE, which offers native support for Velocity syntax and improved real-time feedback while editing templates.Automatic Conversion of Server User Parameters
Introduced an inline migration assistant that:Detects server-style user parameters
Prompts the user to convert them to Cloud format
Parses and restructures the macro definition
Updates the template and shows a migration flag
## Before (Server style) ## @param group:title=Group|required=true #set($group = $paramGroup) ## After (Cloud style, post-conversion) #set($group = $userParams.group)
Proof of Concept (PoC): Full User Macro Migration Flow
Completed and validated a full end-to-end migration flow from Server/DC to Cloud using test macros. Identified practical techniques like UUID removal to ensure smooth rendering post-migration.
🛠 Bug Fixes & Improvements
Template Sanitization Applied on Save via Ctrl+S
Ensured that saving a macro using the keyboard shortcut (Ctrl+S) now applies backend-sanitized template values, maintaining consistency with UI-based saves.
